…or should I say prairie dog days of summer.

Here’s another 4th of July fireworks photo. Fireworks photography, for me, is extreme. Mainly because I only do it once a year. There’s a lot you can do to prep for the shoot. Location is key. I wanted an unobstructed view that still had a good foreground for context. Choosing the right lens. I used my Meike 33mm f1.4. With the distance that I was from the fireworks, this allowed me to get everything in my image. I figured worse case I can always crop. Settings, I used ISO200 at f8. What I played with while shooting was my shutter speed. It varied between 4sec. up to 13sec. It was all a guessing game. To be honest, looking at the images on my camera while I was shooting, I wasn’t sure if I got any good shots or not. It wasn’t till I got them on the computer screen did I find relief. It’s a cowgirl kind of thing.

Dreaming of a getaway.

This one probably won’t get many likes. There’s no colorful flowers, no pretty view. It’s gritty and raw. It’s an alleyway with wires and electrical poles. But it’s also art. It’s light and shadows. It’s lines and texture.

Took a little trip up the road to Temple Sunday with some photographer friends. The sky was amazing with puffy white clouds. If you’ve followed me long enough you know that I like clouds in my sky photos.

Stop and smell the flowers. Literally and figuratively. Scenes like this are disappearing. Get off the highway, slow down and take in the scenery.
